The Season of Stirring : Finding Our Way in a Noisy World

Here in the heart of Pennsylvania, the mountains and fields are still frozen. Today felt like a heat wave at 37°F. But even as the earth remains locked in winter’s grasp, something in me is beginning to stir. The dreaming time of deep winter is giving way to something else—something that, though still quiet, is shifting beneath the surface.
Even in my sleep, the bears are stirring. Night after night, they appear—nudging at the edges of my dreams, lumbering through the quiet corridors of my mind. They sniff the air, testing the unseen shift of seasons, not yet ready to emerge but no longer fully at rest. Something in them knows: the stillness is ending.
And yet, beyond these fields and forests, the world hums with its usual chaos. The news cycle churns relentlessly, pulling us into stories of fear, uncertainty, and exhaustion. More than a few friends and colleagues have confessed to feeling burned out—not just tired, but unsure. Unmoored.
Where do we go next, when everything feels so relentlessly new and yet somehow unchanging?

Anchoring in an Uncertain Time
Richard Rohr speaks often of the everyday mystic—the person who does not retreat from the world but finds the sacred within it. A mystic does not deny hardship but chooses, again and again, to hold onto faith, creativity, and heart-centered knowing.
This is the work I do with my clients—guiding them back to their own knowing. Their own creativity. Their own ability to solve problems not with force, but with wisdom. And in seasons like this, when the world feels particularly untethered, this work becomes more important than ever.
If you are feeling like a boat adrift, my first invitation is this: step away from the noise. Go outside, even in the cold. Walk among the trees, and feel the strength of the earth beneath you. When the world becomes unbearable, let nature bear it with you.
And then listen. Not to the endless flood of voices on your screen, not to the algorithms that tell you what matters, but to your own deep knowing.
Where does your heart want to go?
Have you given yourself time to truly hear it?
Or are you caught in the slipstream of forces that profit from your distraction, your exhaustion, your disengagement from your own truth?

Leaving the Algorithmic World
Lately, I’ve had several conversations with people wondering what it would look like to leave the Meta universe—Facebook, Instagram, the endless cycle of likes and engagement metrics. Is it possible? Yes. Is it easy? Not entirely.
We live in a time when digital presence and business are deeply intertwined. But that does not mean we are without choice. We can decide how we show up. We can choose where we invest our energy. We can ask ourselves, Does this serve the soul of my work?
If it does not, perhaps it is time to step back. To consider new paths. To build differently.

What If This Season Is Not About Knowing, But Listening?
As winter slowly loosens its grip and the first whispers of spring begin to stir, I invite you into a season of deep listening. Not hurried action, not frantic reinvention—just a quiet, steady listening.
The bears are waking, but they do not rush. Neither should we.
What if your next step does not come from the algorithm, but from the deep, still place within you?
And what if, this time, you truly trust it?
